Cape Town and the Winelands
for Jane Mwangi, Jazzy Trips n Tours · Nine days for eight
What stays with you afterward is rarely the whole itinerary — it's a handful of moments. These are the three this trip is built around.

Table Mountain, the V&A Waterfront, the colour of Bo-Kaap — a morning that gives the group the city before the golf and the wine take over.

Lanzerac's cellar and De Zalze's vineyard table — wine here isn't a single afternoon set aside for it, but a thread that runs through the trip.

Steenberg, De Zalze, Erinvale and Pearl Valley — South Africa's oldest wine farm, a working vineyard estate, a Gary Player World Cup venue, and a Nicklaus routing through the winelands.
Four rounds of golf, a morning built around the city, and wine and food woven through the days in between.
Nine days in two chapters — four nights in Constantia, then four in the Winelands.

Two properties, each chosen for what the days on either side of it ask for.

The Cellars-Hohenort sits in one of Constantia's oldest wine valleys, its gardens running down toward the Table Mountain range. It's a quiet place to land after a long flight — close enough to the city for the tour and Steenberg, far enough from it that the trip already feels underway. Lanzerac sits at the foot of the Stellenbosch mountains, on a wine estate old enough that its cellar predates most of the courses you'll play. It's the natural base for four nights — central to De Zalze, Erinvale and Pearl Valley, and unhurried enough for a full day given over to wine and food.
Four rounds across the Cape, opening in Constantia and moving deeper into the winelands as the days go on.

South Africa's oldest wine farm doubles as a golf course, laid out at the foot of the mountains that give it its name. It's an easy opening round from Constantia, and Steenberg Restaurant is right there for lunch afterward.

The course threads through a working vineyard, and it's one we keep bringing groups back to. The par-3 13th is the hole people talk about afterward, and the vineyard's tasting menu is waiting once you're done.

Gary Player laid this one out at the foot of the Hottentots Holland Mountains, and it held up well enough to host the World Cup of Golf in 1996. False Bay opens up on the back nine, and it's a short drive back to Lanzerac for dinner.

Nicklaus's routing here is tighter and more demanding than most of what the group plays that week, which is exactly why it earns the longer drive out from Lanzerac. It's regularly ranked among South Africa's top courses, and the scores out there tend to bear that out.
The hours between the rounds — the city, and the wine estates.

A short road transfer links the two chapters of this trip — Constantia to Stellenbosch is under an hour.
