The Garden Route & Eastern Cape

Six days of championship golf, the coast and the wild

6 Days 5 Nights 4 Championship Rounds 4 Guests

Signature Moments

What stays with a guest is rarely the full itinerary, but a handful of particular moments. These are the three this journey is built around.

The Best of the Links

The Links at Fancourt and Humewood are the two finest links courses in South Africa, and this journey plays both inside a week.

Coast to the Wild

The flight inland runs low over untouched Eastern Cape coastline — quiet beaches, dunes to the horizon, and whales and dolphins below more often than not.

Cheetah on Foot

Tracking cheetah on foot is a different proposition to watching from a vehicle. You walk in behind a guide and a tracker, and the animal decides how close the morning gets.

Highlights

The finest links golf in South Africa, a bird's eye view of the Eastern Cape from the coast to the wild, and an exclusive retreat in the bush.

Where You Stay

Two properties, each chosen for what the days on either side of it ask for.

Fancourt Hotel

Nights 1–3

George · Garden Route

The five-star hotel at the centre of a 1,500-acre estate, with all three championship courses, the spa and the indoor pool a short walk from the door.

Rhino House

Nights 4–5 · Exclusive use

Buffalo Kloof Private Game Reserve · Eastern Cape

Taken whole for the party's two nights, with its own guide, tracker and vehicle. Malaria-free, and close enough to Gqeberha that the last morning still allows a walk before the drive out.

Where You Play

Four rounds — three on one estate, deliberately different from each other, and one true links on Algoa Bay.

Fancourt Montagu

Round One · Day 1

Designed by Gary Player · George

Parkland golf beneath the Outeniqua mountains, and the gentlest of the three Fancourt tests — the right course to open on after a morning of travel.

Fancourt Outeniqua

Round Two · Day 2

Designed by Gary Player · George

The second of the estate's parkland courses, more open than Montagu and a fair test in the morning wind before the afternoon turns to the cellar.

The Links at Fancourt

Round Three · Day 3

Designed by Gary Player · George

Ranked number one in South Africa, and the reason most parties come to Fancourt. Played third, once the group has found its rhythm on the estate.

Humewood Golf Club

Round Four · Day 4

Gqeberha · Algoa Bay

One of the few genuine links in South Africa, laid along the dunes above Algoa Bay. Played on the morning the party moves east, before the flight inland.

When You Are Ready

This draft has been built around the brief as it stands. If it reads as you hoped, tell us and we will begin securing tee times, the house and the aircraft. If anything should be different, say so and we will revise it.

Nothing is confirmed until every detail is exactly as you would like it.
