Cape Town and Stellenbosch
for Mr Neil Cuthbert · Ten days for eight
What stays with you afterward is rarely the whole itinerary — it's a handful of moments. These are the three this trip is built around.

The rotor blades quiet as you drop toward Cape Point, the light already turning gold. By the time you land, a table is waiting at Klein Constantia — one of the valley's original wine farms, and a fitting place to end the day.

Lanzerac's cellar, De Zalze's vineyard table, the Ernie Els estate — wine here isn't a single afternoon set aside for it, but a thread that runs through the whole ten days.

Pearl Valley and Erinvale carry real pedigree — a Nicklaus routing through the winelands, a Player design that once hosted a World Cup. But we bring groups back to all five because each one, in its own way, is worth playing again.
Five rounds of golf, a helicopter tour of Cape Point, and wine woven through nearly every day in between.
Ten days in two chapters — three nights in Constantia, then six in Stellenbosch.

Two properties, each chosen for what the days on either side of it ask for.

The Cellars-Hohenort sits in one of Constantia's oldest wine valleys, its gardens running down toward the Table Mountain range. It's a quiet place to land after a long flight — close enough to the city for the tour and Steenberg, far enough from it that the trip already feels underway. Lanzerac sits at the foot of the Stellenbosch mountains, on a wine estate old enough that its cellar predates most of the courses you'll play. It's the natural base for six nights — central to De Zalze, Pearl Valley and Erinvale, and unhurried enough for the spa day in between.
Five rounds across the Cape, opening in Constantia and moving deeper into the winelands as the days go on.

South Africa's oldest wine farm doubles as a golf course, laid out at the foot of the mountains that give it its name. It's an easy opening round from Constantia, and Steenberg Restaurant is right there for lunch afterward.

The course threads through a working vineyard, and it's one we keep bringing groups back to. The par-3 13th is the hole people talk about afterward, and the vineyard's tasting menu is waiting once you're done.

Set among oak trees in the middle of town, this is the club generations of Stellenbosch families have belonged to. A calmer round, and a good one to have on the way to Pearl Valley.

Nicklaus's routing here is tighter and more demanding than most of what the group plays that week, which is exactly why it earns the longer drive from Lanzerac. It's regularly ranked among South Africa's top courses, and the scores out there tend to bear that out.

Gary Player laid this one out at the foot of the Hottentots Holland Mountains, and it held up well enough to host the World Cup of Golf in 1996. It closes the golf here for good reason — False Bay opens up on the back nine, and the Ernie Els vineyard is a short drive on for the last tasting of the trip.
The hours between the rounds — the city, the coast by air, and the wine estates.

A short road transfer links the two chapters of this trip — Constantia to Stellenbosch is under an hour.
